The underlying problem
The real reason gun law reform will not get changed is how Washington works.
What really needs to change is election financing. We have to reform the current system. ALL elections must be publicly financed. Everyone can use ONLY the federal funds provided.
And business must give a certain amount of time for free advertisements. NO PAID COMMERCIALS! (or infomercials). TV has free airwaves, so they get to suck it up. Of course we need a limit on quantity... and place them at a specific time so citizens can avoid them if they choose. This goes for every form of media. If they sell ads, they must take free political ads.
No PACs, SuperPACs or SuperDuperPACs. ALL financing and expenditures posted on the interwebs for all to see, or they get no more money & can not run. You want to donate, fine, into the general coffers it goes! No tax deduction either.
Not sure how to handle rallies, but we can figure it out. Private & PAC money must go.
Then we can ban lobbyists - well maybe that is a utopian dream, but they have to go. No one like the NRA should have any undue influence on government. Those lying sacks of shit work for US.
And no more automatic raises for legislators. No permanent/lifetime salaries. NO insurance that the citizens don't have. If we don't have it, those losers sucking at the government teat have got to get jobs like the rest of us. We pay their salaries. Maybe we should pay poverty level salaries - I'll bet they figure out how to fix our endemic problems then.
Hmmm... I guess we need a citizens review board! That would scare them into behaving.
...oh, and term limits! The dinosaurs must go. Adios pardners! See ya! Been there too long!!!
